Two counterparties to the same agentic checkout agreement are being priced in opposite directions Wednesday morning as the rally that followed the deal announcement unwinds across online retail. Shopify is handing back its gains while Meta Platforms holds a modest bid.
Shares of Shopify ( SHOP +7.69%) charged sharply higher on Wednesday, surging as much as 8.9%. As of 11:59 a.m. ET, the stock was still up 7.3%. The catalyst that sent the e-commerce platform provider higher was its decision to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) agent shopping.
Eligible Shopify merchants can now be automatically enrolled in native checkout across Google’s AI shopping experiences.
